1. Evaluate: What are the good / strong parts of your paintings?
What is done well?
A good part of one of my
paintings would be for my dollar sign painting I drew a perfect “S”.
Each painting is done very neatly and doesn’t have any mistakes.
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this
project?
Something I could have improved on for this project is using different
techniques. All my paintings were
wet-on-dry techniques simply because I didn’t want to bother trying the others
on them.
3. Describe the attributes of your unity: What are the things
that tie all 3 paintings together? How?
My paintings are all tied together by the metallic based watercolor I
used on them. Each painting is very shimmery. Another thing that brings unity to
my paintings would be that there is one main object in the middle and the
background simply just complements it.
4. Describe the color choices for each of your paintings: What
colors did you choose and why? What families are used (warm, cool, primary,
etc.)?
My first painting I used mostly warm colors as I wanted it to look similar to a
Russian tutu. My second painting had a neutral main object (black) and the
confetti in the background used all colors, warm and cool. For my last painting
I used cool colors, with an exception to yellow.
5. What do you conclude about watercolor painting technique?
Why?
The watercolor technique I used on all three was wet-on-dry. This allowed
me to make very distinct lines because I didn’t really want the colors to
exactly blend into on another as they weren’t abstract paintings.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you
could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to
life in general? Why?
I learned from this project that there is a lot of higher order thinking
to art. I can apply higher order of thinking to many projects in the future and
in life to be more creative and be successful doing it.
EXCEEDING:
7. Evaluate on the meaning of your paintings: Why did you create
them the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance?
Elaborate...
All three of my paintings were planned before I actually started to paint
them. I’m glad to say they all turned out extremely similar to the preliminary
sketches and only had minor changes. I used metallic paint because I thought it
was pretty and I like how it shimmers.
8. What skills / strategies will you apply on the
next project?
Why?
A skill/strategy I will apply on my next project would be planning. By
making the preliminary sketches before painting and tweaking them it helped me
get the image I wanted the way I wanted. Sometimes I get stumped on what to do
and I will start something, but then change my mind about a part as I work on
it. By having it all planned out before starting decreases the margin of error.
