Two different types of watercolor painting techniques are wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet. Wet-on-dry is simply applying wet paint to a dry surface. Using this method creates sharp edges and more defined images. Wet-on-wet painting is when you apply wet watercolor to a wet surface. This makes the colors bleed into eachother at the edges and make the images much softer. The most common type of brush to use for watercolor is a sable brush. It is a very durable type of brush with a point that makes it easy for the painter to use.
