02-D: Monochromatic Emotion Painting with Temera
February 24, 2012 Reflection.
1. Some good/strong parts of my painting would have to be the many different shades of yellow in it. I put streaks of different shades on the rays of the sun to emphasis it shining more brightly. Another good part of my painting is representing the emotion well. Everytime you look at it you just want to smile.
2. In this painting I could have made it more detailed to improve it. The painting as a whole is extremely simple and it's not a very high skilled painting.
3. My theme for this painting is delighted, joyful, and happiness. The unity in it is the base color of yellow. I chose these emotions because they are very positives ones and I'm a very positive person.
4. Yellow is the main hue in my painting. I chose this hue because it depicts these emotions of joy, delighted, and happy the best.
5. Some dark values in my paintings are the background, and this makes the sun pop out more and seem brighter. I added a very small amount of black and red to the yellow just to make it a shade darker. Some light values in my painting are of the mouth and streaks of rays. I wanted the smile to be a main part of the painting and the rays to seem like they're beeming with the emotion.
6. I learned from this project that there are an infinate amount of colors you can make just by using the primary colors, and tinting and shading them create even more options. An overall lesson from this would be to use what you have and realize all the options you truly have.
7. My painting was planned. It turned out to be very close to the original planned image. I like how it turned out as planned, but I wish there would have been a little more to it than just a radiating sun.
8. I thought this project was very worthwile. It is very interesting to create a painting using one color, and only tweeking it by tinting and shading. The cardboard was a very economical and fun material to paint on. It's not a very common canvas to use. I think in the future, to prevent the jeso from making the surface curl and bend, would be to jeso it on both sides.
